Hi Parents,
After much reminder and repetition, the children are slowly falling into
routine. Even the lunch routine is running ´´like a well-oiled machine´´ quoting Jim. We go through the day´s
activities through pictograms that can be seen on the board.
Please dress your child according to the weather and fill in extra
clothes on their shelves. We are expecting to receive the delivery of new boxes
for the clothes any day now. If you are missing any of your child´s belonging,
check the boxes outside the classroom. Be sure to write your child´s name on
all his/her belongings. There is a better chance of getting them back.
If you have not submitted the bilingual
class form, please make sure to submit it by Wednesday next week. Find the
form attached with the mail. You can also find extra copies in the classroom on
the information wall (place where you signed up for the talks).
Calendar - We have started
with a daily routine of recording date/weather in form of a calendar. The goal
is to teach them numbers, names of the days of the week, months of the year,
seasons and time related vocabulary. These calendars are not to be taken home.
Groups - We plan to resume
our groups after next week when we are finished with the introduction talks.
Our buddy Tom - We have started
another fun activity with a stuffed owl. The owl is called Tom and will be a
buddy that follows a student, called the
host, for a weekend. The task is to take picture/pictures with the owl
spending the weekend with the host which he/she will be presenting in the class
on Friday. Parents of the host are requested to mail me the digital pictures.
Our goal with this activity is to encourage them to do a presentation and to
write and read factual texts at a later stage.
Alphabet Corner – As mentioned
during the parents-teachers meeting, next week on Thursday is the time to start
the alphabet corner. The children should bring a thing starting with the letter
of the week. This thing will be placed in the alphabet window until next Thursday
when it is replaced by the next letter thing. You will be informed about the
letter through the newsletter. Please do not send anything valuable or fragile
as they are left unguarded in the window. Letter
of the next week is B!
Question of the day – We pick a
question that the children are encouraged to ask and find out the answer and research
pertaining facts. For example, today we found out the difference between fog
and mist.
Fruit time and reading – The children are
allowed to bring a fruit (ONLY FRUIT) that they can eat after the recess during
the reading time. It is optional.
We are reading Roald Dahl´s ´James and the giant peach´.
Information:
Class Photograph will be taken on Wednesday the 9th
of September.
Have a great weekend!
