Week 4 - 5

Hi parents,
This week has been spent in working on the workbooks. It was challenging but entertaining for the children. We used the chance to teach them to work systematically on word families (as in –an family of fan, tan, ban) and word search. They were also shown some tricks to make the work easier.

We also wrote a letter replying to Peter who shifted to the US in December.

Last but not the least, we started a project today with story boards where the children draw their stories. It involves the process of deciding the characters, time period, clothing and ofcourse a story. They have received a homework to think about a story and how they will fit it on the story board as the beginning, the middle and the ending. We would appreciate your involvement in the hoemwork. Nothing needs to be written but you can ask them relevant questions that will make them think through the story. We will work on their stories on Monday.

During the Swedish lessons, the children have been working on the same letter of the week as in English.

LICE!! – It is that time again. The 5th - the 7th of February is the delousing period. Please check your children for lice.

Week 3 - 4

Hi parents,
Thank you all for the lovely developmental talks this week. The plan went want beyond we had expected and we owe you the success!
The week has been smooth apart from the two fire alarms if wrote about earlier this week. It makes us realize how unprepared we were for an emergency - Please make sure that your child has indoor shoes so we avoid any last minute hassle. The children were cool as cucumbers and better than the best first grader.
We were asked to give tips on the apps we use in school. Here come a few suggestions – Pottery, Mandala, Mattemums Tiokompisar and Shaun the sheep - Home sheep home. Check out http://www.pappasappar.se/ for more good apps.

Week 4
·         The letter of the week is W.

Week 2 - 3

Hi parents,
The concert at the Kulturskola (Fridhemsplan) was a nice beginning to the new term. The children loved it! They have an open house on Saturday (tomorrow) and the children can try the different activities they have to offer. Check www.kulturskolan.stockholm.se for more information.

This week we have been preparing the children for the developmental talks due next week. We are thankful that all the talks are booked and hopeful that you will remember your times so we avoid rebooking them.

We are returning to our weekly routine with alphabet book and window on Wednesdays. The letter of the week is V.

Last but not the least we would like to welcome Piret and Daniel Eichhorn to FB family. Their daughter Elizabeth has started in Johannes this week.

Have a nice weekend!
